upcycled sweaters ready for new use

Upcycling or repurposing is the process of converting waste materials or cast-off things into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value. After buying a cashmere scarf made from upcycled sweaters, I decided it was time to dust off my sewing machine and begin sewing again.

I now have two different eco-fashion “lines.” The Cashmere Peach has a selection of butter soft cashmere and merino wool scarves, fingerless gloves, and cowls. I also make  iPad, Kindle, and iPhone covers, and wine gift bags (perfect for all kinds of gifts) from repurposed sweaters.

Upcycled 2 You also offers scarves, cowls, fingerless gloves, and gadget covers. You can also find koozies and coasters (which make great hostess or housewarming gifts).

During the spring I’ll be posting some lightweight tropical colored scarves and accessories for cool mornings and evenings. There will also be lots of summer colored koozies for cold drinks of all kinds, and summer colors covers for your gadgets.

You can find the best selection of items at Maker’s Market in Griffin, GA, The FolksArt in Milledgevile, Local Color in Lexington, and Cornerstone Treasures in Tennille, all in Georgia. I’ll be restocking my stores on Etsy in the next few weeks (.  Next I’ll be trying some pillows with repurposed shirts and maybe some fiber and wood art. Check back soon.
