I put five Race for the Cure t-shirts and a stack of return address labels in this box and mailed them all to Karen Handel at Susan G. Komen. Before heading to the post office I made a donation to Planned Parenthood in her honor.
I was glad to be shed of her narrow-minded politics when she lost in her bid to be the governor of Georgia. Komen’s decision to put Handel in a position to direct funding and policy reveals that they are driven by similar views. Kudos to the Komen staff and Advisory Board members who have resigned, and Mayor Bloomberg for putting politics aside for women’s health.
